Amy Winston is shown to be a teenage girl who is a loner with no friends, and has constantly been moving from town to town with her mother.. Her mother has talked of how life will change for Amy when she turns seventeen.

On Nilaa, Lady Mordiel has been killing anyone with the mark of the Amethyst bloodline. She had calculated the time was near that her sister Graciel would return with her daughter, and would have enough strength to take the power of the House of Amethyst.

After saving a girl from being gang-raped at high school and fearing the repercussions, Gracie Winston took Amy on the night of her seventeenth birthday to a portal which took them to Nilaa and transformed them into blond haired warrior women. Gracie explained that in Nilaa, they'd have many enemies waiting to kill them, primarily Gracie's sister.

They arrived on Nilaa in front of friends, but were attacked immediately by Mordiel's hunters. Gracie ordered Amy to go with the guards, but when her mother was attacked, Amy grabbed the sword of one of her guards and joined the fight.

Meanwhile on Earth, John Constantine found the portal crystal and took it with him.

BEOWULF - In a seemingly post-apocolytpic future, Wiglaf was part of a hunting party in search of Beowulf. Beowulf emerged from his chamber and attached the hunting party, killing all but young Wiglaf, who posed as a prisoner to save his life. Wiglaw says he was coming to find Beowulf, to slay the Grendel in the land of Danelaw
